Ulamak Versus Ulamak

I still remember i was a 17 yrd old impressionaire then, It was 1977, i was in form five. Soviet Union was powerful and intact. South Vietnam had fall to the North Vietnam.

Not believing The Thai as an honest nation as had been proven almost 4 decade earlier, the Kelantanese masses was gearing for eventual unavoidable war as was explained as domino theory.... Malaysia was the next target after South Vietnam,

The youngster in Kelantan was advised to learn self defence. Silat and Tomoi school and bong sprung like mushroom after rainfall. I was one of them, taking silat lesson under Guru Zakaria, a student of Well known silat guru, Awang Daud.

I have been my silat classes without the knowledge og my father. I was close to my mother, my wise mother of 7 kids who made all his kids they are so special.

I was not so close to my father and so were my siblings. My late father was a macho man of his time, did not speak very much, but a glance of his penetrating eyes was enough to make me freeze with fear even when i was already a teenager. All communications with him had scarcely been direct....always through my loyal subservient mother.

With all his cold and distance, he was a hardworking and responsible father who has never failed to provide for his family. We werent rich but we were not poor either.
